Herbal jelly sounds more a form of traditional medicine than a Thai dessert, but this past Saturday, the dish was served to great success by the Purdue University Thai Student Association at their Thai Food Festival. I’ll admit, I got there rather late and had some limited dining options. Even so, I picked up some vegetable stir fry with a side of tofu pad Thai and it was delicious. A friend who came with me had the pork green curry with chicken pad Thai. For dessert we tasted the herbal jelly, a new dish for both of us and washed everything down with Thai iced tea, the option that drew me to the event in the first place. For a pre-sale price of ten-dollars, this event was a great way to expose myself to a new cuisine. I would definitely like to try it all again next time.
