Grand Prix Breakfast Club a Success

Jake and Elwood Blues, Mario and Luigi, and numerous other characters were out and about early Saturday morning for Grand Prix’s Breakfast Club. Purdue students and Lafayette locals were all around to join in the festivities. My roommate and I dressed as the dynamic duo, Beavis and Butthead. As this was my first one, I will say it was packed. Normally the bars are a cram fest, but this was a whole new experience. One could steal the line from Die Hard where Bruce Willis says, “Now I know what a TV dinner feels like.” The lines were ridiculous, but I will admit once you start drinking, it gets a heck of a lot more tolerable. It’s amazing what alcohol can do. Thankfully while I was out, everyone was just looking to have a good time, so there weren’t any incidents that I was made aware of during my experience. I did see a tussle break out between two people at Brother’s, but it subsided as quickly as it began. Two of the people in my group were from out of town and they couldn’t believe we do such things. They told us they didn’t believe our roommate who told them to bring a costume. They finally started having a good time once the liquor set in though.

All in all, I had a great time, and I look forward to doing it again when football season comes around. Perhaps I’ll wear a warmer costume though as shorts and a t-shirt was not that great in 45 degree weather at 6:30 in the morning, but it was still fun walking around telling Beavis, “Quit trying to change the subject. You were crying.”
